The situation remains under active investigation, with further developments anticipated.
The Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA) in Mauritius has mandated the immediate pause of all betting operations by Bet 593 Ltd. This follows an internal investigation into suspected money laundering activities.
This probe culminated in a formal referral to the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) and the arrest of the company’s director on provisional money laundering charges.
According to a directive issued by the GRA on 4 March 2026, Bet 593 Ltd was ordered to halt all its local horse racing and international football betting services. The suspension extends to its online platforms and retail outlets, pending further inquiries.
The FCC has laid provisional charges against the company’s director under prevailing financial crime legislation.
Bet 593 Ltd only gained its licence in summer of 2025 before sponsoring the Bicentenary Cup at the MTCJC, Mauritius.
Targeted suspension to prevent potential illicit financial flows
Bet 593 Ltd’s suspension affects both its sports and horse racing verticals, which contribute the majority of its revenue. The immediate halt is intended to prevent the continuation of potentially illicit money flows while the FCC considers its case. The GRA framed the suspension as a precautionary, procedural measure. It emphasises its role in referring the internal findings for a criminal investigation.
The statement confirmed the arrest of Bet 593 Ltd’s director and the provisional money laundering charge following the agency’s referral to the FCC. Global regulatory bodies have increasingly linked AML failings to broader consumer protection obligations. The UK Gambling Commission frequently cites anti-money laundering and social responsibility failures when it imposes enforcement measures against operator failings in the UK, signalling regulators’ recognition of the link between financial crime controls and responsible gambling duties.
Bet 593 Ltd has yet to issue a public response.
