Online gambling revenue in January came in at $356.3 million, the Michigan regulator said.
Revenue from online gambling in Michigan increased 7.6% year-on-year in January despite a decline within the sports betting segment of the market.
Overall online gambling revenue in January reached $356.3 million, the Michigan Gaming Control Board reported. This was clear of the previous year but dropped 10.9% from December.
Gross iGaming receipts for the month hit $298.3 million, which surpassed January 2025 by 20.2%. However, online sports betting gross receipts slipped 30.1% to $58 million.
As for adjusted revenue, which accounted for promotional spending, this was 12.3% up from last year to $323.3 million. Adjusted iCasino receipts climbed 22.8% to $286.3 million but adjusted sports betting receipts fell 32.5% to $37 million.
In terms of handle, Michigan sportsbook customers wagered $491.3 million online, a fall of 11.5%. This resulted in a statewide hold of 11.8% based on gross receipts and 7.53% adjusted revenue.
FanDuel and MotorCity continue to lead in Michigan
Looking towards operators, FanDuel and partner MotorCity Casino led both the online casino and online sports betting markets during January. For iCasino, the partnership generated $73.3 million in gross receipts and $70.4 million adjusted receipts.
MGM and BetMGM remained second with $65.8 million in gross receipts and $63.2 million adjusted revenue. DraftKings and the Bay Mills Indian Community placed third with $45.5 million and $43.7 million.
As for sports betting, FanDuel and MotorCity posted $22.8 million in gross receipts and $14.6 million adjusted receipts. Working off gross receipts and a handle of $168.3 million, this put hold at 13.47%.
DraftKings and the Bay Mills Indian Community again ranked second with $16.2 million in gross receipts and $11.6 million adjusted revenue. Working off the same basis, and with a handle of $144.8 million, hold was 11.19%. MGM and BetMGM were third with $8.1 million and $4.8 million, while a handle of $61.1 million meant a 13.26% hold.
Tax-wise, operators paid $57.1 million in taxes and payments to the state of Michigan during the month 2025. Meanwhile, Detroit’s three commercial casinos paid $13.9 million to the city.
Revenue at Detroit casinos tops $103.9 million
For Detroit’s three casinos, the revenue across the properties hit $103.9 million in January.
Table games and slots revenue climbed 0.8% year-on-year to $103.1 million, but qualified adjusted gross receipts from retail sports betting fell 69.5% to $789,669.
MGM remained the market leader with an overall share of 49%, ahead of MotorCity with 30% and Hollywood Casino at Greektown with 21%.
