The move would cement Super’s position as the biggest betting operator in Romania.
Romania.- Super Technologies, the newly rebranded parent company of SuperBet, has reportedly reached an agreement to acquire Maxbet Online. The move would cement the group’s position as the biggest operator of betting in Romania.
The deal comes after a pivotal 2025 in which Super entered Brazil’s growing regulated betting market and rebranded as Super Technologies. By adding Maxbet Online and Maxbet Malta to its portfolio, Super strengthens its presence in Romania but also across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), where competition has intensified in recent years.
Super’s expansion has been supported by a €1.3bn refinancing secured a year ago with a consortium of investors including Blackstone.
Adam Lamentowicz, Super’s chief commercial officer for CEE, said: “The acquisition of Maxbet aligns with our consolidation strategy in the CEE region and strengthens our ability to build a competitive entertainment ecosystem tailored to the expectations of customers in each market. Romania is a key pillar of our growth strategy, and this transaction enables us to accelerate both operational and commercial development through a diversified brand portfolio and a well-defined customer community.”
Maxbet Online was founded in 2015. Despite the similar name, it’s not affiliated with the Serbia-based Maxbet group, which also operates in Republika Srpska, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.
Maxbet Online CEO Manuel Bauer said: “Romania is one of the most competitive gaming markets in Europe, and reaching this point reflects a period of focused execution, continuous improvement and dedication at Maxbet. Integration into the Super Group marks the next phase of that evolution.
“Combined with Super’s resources and technology platform, and our joint operational expertise, Maxbet brings proven local execution and deep product experience. This reinforces the foundations of the Maxbet brand and enables us to further elevate the experience for our customers across both digital and retail, while ensuring continuity, stability, and long-term opportunity for our people.”
As reported by EGR, the deal remains subject to approval from Romania’s Competition Council.
Flutter Entertainment acquired a majority stake in Serbia’s Maxbet Group in 2023. Another major global player in the CEE region is Entain, which purchased Croatia’s SuperSport in 2022.
